Read the following story of Farid. Then, in pairs/groups, identify the
underlined sentences as facts or opinions. Also, discuss why you think they are
facts or opinions. Later, share your responses with the class.
ফরিদ সম্পর্কে নিচের গল্পটি পড়ো। তারপর জোড়ায় বা দলে নিচের বাক্যগুলোকে facts
অথবা opinions হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করো। তোমার মতে কেনো সেগুলো facts
অথবা opinions তাও আলোচনা করো। পরে শ্রেণিতে তা শেয়ার করো।
Courage
is the ability to take action even in the face of fear. We all need courage to
start pursuing our goals. Being courageous in our life empowers us to chase our
dreams and strengthen our belief in our capabilities despite fear. One example
is Farid.
সাহস হল ভয়ের মধ্যেও
যেকোনো পদক্ষেপ নেওয়ার ক্ষমতা। আমাদের সকলেরই নিজেদের লক্ষ্য অর্জনের জন্য সাহসের
প্রয়োজন। আমাদের জীবনে সাহসী হওয়া আমাদের স্বপ্নকে তাড়া করতে এবং ভয় থাকা সত্ত্বেও
আমাদের সামর্থ্যের প্রতি আমাদের বিশ্বাসকে শক্তিশালী করে। এর একটি উদাহরণ ফরিদ।
Farid
and his friends used to climb mountains whenever they get opportunities. This
time they decided to climb Keokradong. Following the plan, one day they reached
the famous mountain spot in the Keokradong and were surprised to see many
people climbing the mountains.
ফরিদ ও তার বন্ধুরা সুযোগ
পেলেই পাহাড়ে উঠত। সেবার তারা কেওক্রাডং পাহাড়ে উঠার সিদ্ধান্ত নিল। পরিকল্পনা মাফিক
একদিন তারা কেওক্রাডং এর বিখ্যাত পাহাড়ী স্থানে পৌঁছল এবং সেখানে এত এত লোককে পাহাড়ে
উঠতে এসেছে দেখে অবাক হয়ে গেল।
Like
others, Farid and his friends started putting on mountain climbing gear and
began climbing. In no time, they reached the hilltop. After reaching there, his
friends chose to camp, but Farid was drawn to climb another mountain. He
thought that climbing to the next hill will be fun and challenging instead of
camping here.
অন্যদের মতো ফরিদ ও তার বন্ধুরাও পর্বতারোহণের সরঞ্জাম পরে উপরে উঠতে শুরু করে।কিছুক্ষণের মধ্যেই তারা পাহাড়ের চূড়ায় পৌঁছে গেল।চূড়ায়। সেখানে পৌঁছানোর পর তার বন্ধুরা ক্যাম্প করার সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়, কিন্তু ফরিদ অন্য পাহাড়ে আরোহণের জন্য আকৃষ্ট হয়। সে ভেবেছিলো এখানে ক্যাম্প করার পরিবর্তে পরের পাহাড়ে আরোহণ করা আকর্ষণীয় এবং চ্যালেঞ্জিং হবে।
So,
he proposed to his friends to climb, but they refused because they found the
path difficult. Farid took this as a challenge and went alone towards climbing
the peak. Two hours later, he reached the top of the hill. People who were
already there greeted him with applause.
তাই, সে তার বন্ধুদের পরবর্তী পাহাড়ে ওঠার প্রস্তাব করে, কিন্তু তারা তা প্রত্যাখ্যান করেছিলও কারণ তারা পথটি কঠিন বলে মনে করেছিল। ফরিদ এটাকে চ্যালেঞ্জ হিসেবে নিয়ে একাই চূড়ায় আরোহণের দিকে এগিয়ে গেল। দুই ঘণ্টা পর সে পাহাড়ের চূড়ায় পৌঁছে গেল। সেখানে আগে থেকেই উপস্থিত লোকজন করতালি দিয়ে তাকে স্বাগত জানান।
Farid
was thrilled to have climbed the peak. He admired the beautiful views of nature
from the top. He thought about his friends and had a conversation with a boy
his age.
ফরিদ চূড়ায় আরোহণ করতে পেরে শিহরিত হয়। সে উপর থেকে প্রকৃতির সুন্দর
দৃশ্যের প্রশংসা করে।সে তার বন্ধুদের কথা ভাবছিলা এবং তথন তার নিজের বয়সের একটি
ছেলের সাথে তার কথোপকথন হয়।
He
asked him, “While climbing this peak, I felt it was not so difficult. Then why
only a handful of people here? If people could climb the below peak, they can
climb here also if they put in some effort.”
সে তাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করে, “এই চূড়ায় উঠার করার সময়, আমার মনে হয়েছে যে এটি এতটা কঠিনও ছিল না। তাহলে এখানে শুধু
মুষ্টিমেয় লোক কেন? লোকেরা যদি নীচের চূড়ায় আরোহণ করতে
পারে তবে তারা যদি আরেকটু চেষ্টা করে তবে এখানেও আরোহণ করতে পারে।”
He
replied, “Most people in the crowd right there are happy with what they find
easy. They never think that they have the potential to achieve more. Even
people who are not happy there do not want to take any risk. They think if they
take risks, they will lose what they already have.
উত্তরে সে বলল,, “সেখানে ভিড়ের বেশিরভাগ লোকেরা যা
সহজে পাওয়া যায় তাতেই তারা খুশি। তারা কখনই ভাবে না যে তাদের আরও বেশি অর্জনের
সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।এমনকি যারা নিজের অবস্থান নিয়ে সন্তুষ্ট নন এমন মানুষও কোনো ঝুঁকি
নিতে চান না। তারা মনে করে, ঝুঁকি নিলে তাদের যেটুকু আছে সেটুকুও
হারাবে।
He
replied, “Most people in the crowd right there are happy with what they find
easy. They never think that they have the potential to achieve more. Even
people who are not happy there do not want to take any risk. They think if they
take risks, they will lose what they already have.
কিন্তু একটি নতুন শিখরে পৌঁছানোর জন্য, আমাদের প্রচেষ্টা
চালিয়ে যেতে হবে। তাদের মধ্যে অনেকে সাহস দেখায় না, এবং
তারা সারা জীবন ভিড়ের অংশ হয়েই বেঁচে থাকে। এবং মুষ্টিমেয় সাহসী লোকদের নিয়ে অভিযোগ
করতে থাকে যে তারা আসলই ভাগ্যবান ।

agreed that it’s the courage and effort that make someone out of the crowd
ফরিদ তার সাথে একমত হয় যে, শুধুমাত্র সাহস এবং
চেষ্টাই পারে কাউকে ভিড়ের মধ্য থেকে নিজেকে আলাদা করতে।

Many of them do not show any courage, and they remain part of the crowd the whole life. And keep complaining about the handful of courageous people and call them lucky.” |
